Is Iran targeting the Khudafarin Bridge? – Embassy issues STATEMENT
Videos and reports have circulated in the media and on social networks claiming that Iran has deployed military equipment and missiles near its border with Azerbaijan and may threaten the Khudafarin Bridge.
TodayPress TV reports, citing Lent.az, that Armenian Iran expert Vardan Voskanyan has claimed in a social media post that the Khudafarin Bridge, located on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border, is among Iran’s potential targets.
According to Voskanyan, another possible target is a strategically important road near the Azerbaijani-Iranian border, beside which the words “Long live Azerbaijan” can be seen.
The Armenian Iran expert linked these claims to a statement by Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei that retaliatory strikes would be carried out without geographical restrictions.
In Voskanyan’s view, areas along the border with Azerbaijan could be among the potential directions referred to in that statement.
To support his claims, he cited footage circulating on Iranian social media, particularly Telegram channels.
The videos refer to Khamenei’s phrase “without geographical restrictions” and present the Khudafarin Bridge, along with the nearby road bearing the words “Long live Azerbaijan”, as possible targets.
Lent.az contacted the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan for comment.
The embassy described the claims as baseless and unreliable.
“There is no need even to respond to such baseless and unreliable claims,” the embassy said in its reply.
Thus, claims that Iran intends to target the Khudafarin Bridge and a road near the Azerbaijani border have been rejected by Iran’s diplomatic mission.
