Court blocks Trump’s unauthorised construction project
US federal judge Tanya Chutkan has temporarily halted construction of a planned 250-foot (approximately 76-metre) triumphal arch that President Donald Trump intends to build in Washington, suspending the project for two weeks.
TodayPress TV reports, citing The Washington Post, that the ruling came shortly after a federal commission approved the project.
The decision follows legal challenges arguing that the project is being carried out without congressional authorisation and would obstruct the view of Arlington National Cemetery.
According to Trump, the triumphal arch is intended to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence.
