Terrifying heat set to make history – Nothing like this has been seen before

September 2026 is highly likely to become the hottest September on record in the history of meteorological observations.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Globalinfo.az, that the global average air temperature reached 16.58 degrees Celsius during the first 12 days of September. This figure surpassed the previous record set in September 2023.

According to Japan’s JRA-3Q meteorological data, the global average temperature during the first 12 days of September was also recorded at 16.58 degrees Celsius.

Experts say that, as in 2023, the El Niño phenomenon has contributed to the rise in global temperatures in 2026. The El Niño event is reported to be stronger this year.

Current figures indicate that September 2026 could become the hottest September in the history of meteorological observations.

It should be noted that August also set a record in terms of global temperatures. According to Copernicus data, the global average surface temperature in August 2026 was 16.96 degrees Celsius. This was the highest figure ever recorded for the month of August.

In Baku, the weather on September 14 is expected to be partly cloudy and mostly dry. Temperatures are forecast to be 18–21 degrees Celsius at night and 26–31 degrees Celsius during the day.
