What if the UK rejoins the EU? What would change?
The United Kingdom could remain outside the eurozone and the Schengen Area if it applies to rejoin the European Union (EU).
TodayPress TV reports that “Politico” published the information, citing two EU officials.
According to the officials, Brussels could adopt a flexible approach to the issue. As a result, the UK might not be required to adopt the single currency or join the EU’s visa-free travel area, as both issues are a source of concern for some British voters.
EU representatives said the bloc currently has no official position on the UK’s potential return. However, they noted that the country’s current circumstances would be taken into account during negotiations.
“In theory, there is a standard approach, but in practice, it is more flexible. There are different models”,- one of the officials said.
Meanwhile, Eurosceptics believe that if the UK rejoins the EU, it would most likely have to join the Schengen Area and adopt the single currency.
