US President Donald Trump has nominated Acting Secretary of the US Navy Hung Cao to serve as the permanent secretary and called on the Senate to confirm his nomination as soon as possible, TodayPress TV reports.

Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social account.

“I am pleased to nominate true warrior Hung Cao to serve as the next Secretary of the United States Navy,” Trump said.

The US President emphasized that he considers Cao the best candidate for the position.

“The Senate should confirm this warrior as soon as possible so that he can continue the great work he has done over the past four months,” Trump added.

It should be noted that Cao has been serving as acting Secretary of the Navy since late April this year, following the resignation of John Phelan, whom he had served as deputy. His permanent appointment requires Senate confirmation.
