Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said that relations with Real Madrid have completely broken down and that the two clubs are now engaged in a bitter confrontation. The club chief made the remarks ahead of the next El Clásico, scheduled for October 25.

TodayPress TV reports, citing the French publication L’Équipe.

According to Laporta, the Madrid club is trying to divert attention from its own failures by criticising refereeing in the Spanish league. He said Real Madrid was seeking to distract the public through the Negreira case and stressed that the club had lost credibility both institutionally and on the pitch.

Laporta also said that Real Madrid was not represented in the relevant governing structures, had failed to achieve the desired results despite substantial financial spending, and was heading in the wrong direction.

The Barcelona–Real Madrid match, part of Matchday 10 of La Liga, will take place on October 25 at 23:00 Baku time.
