Unprecedented preparations since World War II: Finland takes action

Finland is conducting one of Europe’s largest civil defense exercises since the end of World War II, with more than 2,000 people, including local authorities, volunteers and students, taking part, TodayPress TV reports.

The scenario of the exercise includes disruptions to power and water supplies in the city of Kuopio caused by cyberattacks, as well as the threat of possible missile strikes from Russia.

Participants are practicing how to respond to a large-scale crisis and a potential military attack. Particular emphasis is being placed on ensuring that the population is prepared to cope independently for at least 72 hours in the event of power outages or disruptions to the water supply.

The exercise is being held amid growing concerns in Finland over cyberattacks and other threats to critical infrastructure.
