Hakan Fidan and Kaja Kallas discuss tensions in the Black Sea
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas have discussed problems with delivering grain to global markets amid tensions in the Black Sea.
TodayPress TV reports that Fidan made the remarks in an interview with Anadolu Agency following his visit to Belgium.
The talks also covered the Russia–Ukraine conflict, the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and related challenges in the energy sector.
“We also discussed grain products that have been unable to reach global markets because of tensions in the Black Sea. We talked about what might happen next, what we could do about the situation and what solutions could be found,” the minister said.
Fidan added that the Russia–Ukraine conflict was also discussed during his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The talks also addressed relations between Türkiye and the Alliance, as well as the implementation of decisions adopted at NATO’s July summit.
