EU joins US operation against Iran

The European Union has joined the US economic pressure operation against Iran, TodayPress TV reports.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced this in a post on the social media platform X.

Bessent welcomed the EU’s move. According to him, the United States, together with its allies, is seeking to prevent Iran from using the global financial system to finance its nuclear program, weapons production and armed groups it supports.

The secretary said the goal is to further restrict Iran’s financial capabilities and strengthen the country’s isolation from the global financial system.

The United States launched the operation on August 24. Washington plans to shut down financial and trade channels linked to Iran.
