Azerbaijan, Sweden discuss bilateral ties and regional security

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received Sweden's newly appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan, Louise Morsing, TodayPress TV informs.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said Morsing presented a copy of his credentials to Bayramov.

Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission. The importance of the ambassador's activities in further developing relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden was also highlighted.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Sweden bilateral relations, including political dialogue, economic and trade ties, and cooperation in the humanitarian and education sectors, as well as regional issues.

The officials emphasized that regular political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries contribute to further developing the bilateral agenda. They also stressed the importance of continuing mutual visits and high-level contacts.

The sides exchanged views on regional security. Bayramov briefed his Swedish counterpart on Azerbaijan's efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region, the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and new opportunities for regional cooperation.

The meeting also covered Azerbaijan-European Union cooperation, regional connectivity, energy security and other international issues of mutual interest.

Morsing said she would spare no effort to further develop relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden.
