Zakharova delivers scathing statement to Paris: “Don’t blame Russia for your mistakes!”
Paris is seeking to accuse Moscow of interfering in the 2027 presidential election in France and portray Russia as an enemy, TodayPress TV reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the statement on the ministry’s official website.
“It is no secret that official Paris is not only deliberately portraying Russia as an enemy, but is also trying to shift onto our country its numerous mistakes and failures, both in the economic and foreign policy spheres,” the official response said.
It should be noted that in the summer of 2026, Viginum, France’s government agency responsible for combating foreign interference in cyberspace, identified disinformation campaigns linked to two networks called “Matriochka” and “Storm-1516,” which it described as “Russia-aligned.” According to the allegations, the campaigns targeted potential rivals of Marine Le Pen in the 2027 presidential election.
