Pashinyan digs up Russia’s 300-year history in Armenia – “You brought it up”

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that if Russia decides to withdraw its military base from Armenia, Yerevan will not object, TodayPress TV reports, citing Armenpress.

Pashinyan addressed the issue during a briefing with journalists following a meeting of the Armenian government.

“We have never raised the issue of the Russian military base during this period. We do not consider the presence of Russia’s 102nd military base on Armenian territory to be a vital necessity. If Russia decides to withdraw the military base from Armenia, we will not object, but if they want to stay, we are also ready to discuss that. However, we have never raised these issues during this period,” Pashinyan said.

It should be recalled that following his meeting with Pashinyan in Bishkek, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the issue of Russia’s military base in Armenia while speaking to journalists. He stressed that if Armenia believes it does not need the Russian military base, Russia could leave as early as the next day.
