Brussels wanted a one-year extension of sanctions, but Slovakia blocked it
Slovakia has blocked a proposal to immediately extend the European Union’s sanctions against Russia for one year, TodayPress TV reports, citing Politico.
The restrictions against Russia are currently renewed every six months. The next extension is due to expire on September 15.
Brussels wants to extend the duration of the sanctions to one year. However, the move requires the unanimous approval of all 27 EU member states.
