129,000 residents left without power in Lithuania
A powerful storm and heavy rainfall in Lithuania on August 22 caused significant damage to the country’s electricity grid, TodayPress TV reports, citing local media.
Rasa Juodkiene, a representative of the country’s distribution network operator Energijos Skirstymo Operaterius (ESO), said that approximately 129,000 customers are currently without electricity.
The number of people left without power following the storm peaked at 268,000. On the morning of August 23, the figure stood at 219,000.
According to ESO, restoration work is ongoing, and the full restoration of the electricity grid is expected to take up to a week.
