Bahçeli makes important statement on Azerbaijan
“No seeds of discord that could damage the fraternal relations and bonds of solidarity among the countries of the Turkic world, particularly Azerbaijan, must be allowed to be sown among us.”
Devlet Bahçeli, chairman of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and a member of parliament, made the remarks in a written statement to the press, TodayPress TV reports.
He noted that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are two powerful states belonging to the same community of shared hearts and values.
“It is of great importance to act with sound judgment, mutual understanding and common sense in response to any approach aimed at undermining the fraternal relations between the two countries. Türkiye’s upcoming chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States also represents an important responsibility and opportunity arising from these developments. Relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are among the strongest pillars of this process. The historical, cultural and fraternal ties between the two countries carry a meaning that transcends political developments; they are rooted in the shared memory and unity of our peoples.
“We believe that the meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the Organization of Turkic States summit will once again demonstrate the unwavering commitment to Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood.
“Our course is clear. We must deepen cooperation on the basis of mutual respect for the sovereignty and independence of the Turkic republics, without allowing any seeds of discord to be sown among the countries of the Turkic world, particularly Azerbaijan, that could harm their fraternal relations and bonds of solidarity. We must build our shared future with an awareness of the responsibility history has placed upon us and unite the goal of the ‘Century of Türkiye and the Turks’ with the rise of the Turkic world,” the party chairman added.
