France tests new ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead – VIDEO

France has conducted the first submarine-launched test of its new M51.3 ballistic missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

TodayPress TV reports that French President Emmanuel Macron said the launch demonstrated the reliability of the country’s nuclear deterrent.

The missile, which was not equipped with a warhead, was launched from the Le Vigilant nuclear-powered submarine near the British coast. According to the Ministry of Defense, the missile landed in the North Atlantic Ocean, hundreds of kilometers away from any coastline.

Macron watched the test from the Auvergne military vessel.
