Secret plan for the Caucasus on the table: What brought Armenian minister to Tehran
Iran is further strengthening its relations with Armenia at a time when the strategic importance of the South Caucasus is growing.
TodayPress TV reports that Armenia’s Foreign Minister held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The sides discussed bilateral relations and regional security issues.
According to the report, the two ministers first held a one-on-one meeting, after which the talks continued with the participation of the delegations.
The timing of the meeting is of particular importance. Iran shares a border with Armenia, and Tehran has repeatedly viewed security issues in the South Caucasus, as well as the possibility of changes to borders in the region, as matters directly affecting its strategic interests.
Amid rising geopolitical tensions in the region, Iran is also demonstrating that developments along its northern borders are of significant importance to Tehran.
