Alonso proposes a technical revolution in Formula 1: “Cars should become true racing machines!”

Two-time world champion and Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso of Spain has explained how the quality of Formula 1 races could be improved with modern hybrid-powered cars.

TodayPress TV reports, citing Mundo Deportivo, that Alonso made the remarks.

“I would probably reduce the maximum power of the battery in order to extend its usage time. At the moment, we accelerate very quickly thanks to the rapid deployment of electrical energy, but when the energy runs out, there is a sharp drop in speed. As a result, a strange situation arises when entering a corner: you lift off the accelerator and simply coast for the final 200 meters.

“If the power were reduced somewhat so that it could be distributed over a longer period, the speed characteristics would resemble those of a true racing car. You would reach top speed not in the middle of the straight, but precisely when you reach the corner,” Alonso said.
