The United Kingdom and several European countries are planning to establish a joint naval alliance to counter Russian submarines.

According to British Chief of the Defence Staff Richard Knighton, the countries will strengthen joint defence across the North Atlantic, the Arctic and the Baltic Sea.

The main objective of the cooperation is to prevent Russian submarines from posing a threat to maritime traffic in the event of a potential war.

According to the report, an agreement on expanding military cooperation is expected to be signed on Tuesday aboard Britain’s aircraft carrier “HMS Prince of Wales”.
