Sudden food cravings that start immediately? BE CAREFUL: Doctor issues WARNING...
A sudden craving for a particular food is not always a sign of genuine hunger. True hunger usually develops gradually. Taking a short pause can help manage the impulse to eat.
According to TodayPress TV, gastroenterologist and Gemotest laboratory expert Yekaterina Kashukh said this in an interview with RIAМО.
According to the expert, true hunger gradually intensifies, while an impulsive urge to eat arises suddenly. When such an urge occurs, taking a 10–15-minute pause before acting on it can help assess how strong it really is.
“During this time, the hormonal surge may naturally subside,” the expert explained.
She warned that skipping main meals makes the body more sensitive to external stimuli, such as the appetizing smell of food. Therefore, regular eating is one of the most reliable ways to prevent overeating.
According to the doctor, maintaining appetite control also requires sufficient protein, healthy fats, long-lasting energy-providing carbohydrates and fiber in the daily diet. It is also important to drink enough water and avoid severe dietary restrictions that can increase the risk of compulsive overeating.
However, the gastroenterologist noted that cravings for individual foods in a person who follows a balanced diet will not lead to weight gain.
