Russia is awaiting Yerevan’s response to its proposal to restore two railway sections under Armenia’s concession.

TodayPress TV reports that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk made the statement while speaking to journalists.

According to him, the proposal concerns the restoration of the railway sections from Yeraskh (Arazdayan) to the border with Nakhchivan and from Gyumri to the Turkish border.

Overchuk noted that Russia had announced its support for restoring both sections at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

“We are ready to help Armenia with this matter and take part in ensuring transport connectivity from Yeraskh to Nakhchivan, as well as restoring the section from Gyumri to the Turkish border,” he said.

The Russian deputy prime minister added that decisions on the matter had already been made at the level of the Russian president in January.

Overchuk also said he expected important meetings to take place in the near future to move the issue forward.
