President thanks CIS for supporting Lachin

“Humanitarian cooperation is one of the key areas. I would like to express my gratitude to the CIS heads of state for supporting the decision to declare Lachin the cultural capital of the Commonwealth.”

TodayPress TV reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a restricted-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Turkmenbashi.

The head of state also noted:

“The large-scale events held in Lachin last year allowed our guests to become more familiar with the region’s rich and ancient history. They were also able to witness its rapid revival and the scale of the ongoing restoration work.”
