Russia’s “last stronghold” in Germany also closes
The closing ceremony of Russia’s last remaining general consulate operating in Germany was held in the city of Bonn.
TodayPress TV reports, citing a TASS correspondent, that the ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev, Russian Consul General in Bonn Oleg Krasnitsky, employees of the Russian Embassy and the Consulate General in Bonn, Russian citizens living in Germany, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as members of the German public and local residents who came to the event.
During the ceremony, Russian Consul General in Bonn Oleg Krasnitsky delivered a speech. He expressed his deep gratitude to the mission’s staff and local partners for their effective cooperation over many years.
Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev later addressed the participants:
“We are concluding our diplomatic activities on the banks of the Rhine.”
