Putin and Pashinyan to hold special meeting — What will be discussed?

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have agreed to hold a “special separate bilateral meeting.”

TodayPress TV reports that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made the statement.

According to him, during the meeting, Yerevan’s desire to join the European Union (EU) and related issues will be discussed openly.

Lavrov noted that Moscow does not intend to prevent Yerevan from choosing its partners and development paths. However, he said Russia does not want to sponsor Armenia’s preparations for EU membership at the expense of the major benefits Armenia receives from the Eurasian Economic Union, adding that this is a “fairly clear matter.”

“Despite all these and other circumstances, President Putin and Prime Minister Pashinyan met in Bishkek. They agreed to hold a separate bilateral meeting and speak openly about all these issues,” the foreign minister said.
