Are tensions easing between Beijing and Washington? Preparations begin for new talks

Contacts between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump serve as a starting point for China-US relations.

TodayPress TV reports that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“For some time now, China-US relations have generally been developing along the path of constructive strategic stability defined by the two heads of state, which meets the expectations of the international community. High-level diplomacy is the starting point for China-US relations,” Wang Yi stressed.

According to him, the authorities of China and the United States should prepare for a new stage of high-level contacts:

“Both sides should prepare for the next stage of high-level contacts, guided by the principles of equality, respect and mutual benefit.”

Wang Yi also noted that the authorities of China and the United States should send a signal to the international community that they intend to establish relations based on strategic stability.
