Iran has warned regional governments that it could launch ground attacks on the territory of neighbouring countries if a new war breaks out in the Middle East.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Tehran has also warned of possible attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities and intensified military operations against US forces, including attempts to sink American warships, TodayPress TV reports.

Pro-government rallies and increasingly hardline military rhetoric in Iran have drawn attention amid preparations for a possible conflict. Temporary defensive positions have reportedly been established near the Pikakse mountain complex and the Natanz nuclear facility. Airports, ports and power plants are also being placed on a state of readiness for emergency operations.
