China launches two Earth observation satellites into orbit

China has successfully launched two new Earth observation satellites into orbit.

TodayPress TV reports that the satellites are named SpaceTY 51 and SpaceTY 52.

The Kuaizhou-11 rocket carrying the satellites lifted off at 10:40 a.m. Beijing time from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northern China.

The four-stage solid-fuel rocket is 25 meters long. The Kuaizhou-11 can deliver payloads of up to 1.5 tonnes into low Earth orbit.

This was the rocket’s seventh mission and reportedly its third launch in 2026.

China has been rapidly developing its space program in recent years. In addition to meteorological, communications and navigation satellites, the country is also carrying out projects to explore the Moon, Mars and asteroids.

In 2025, China conducted 92 space launches, setting a new national record.
