Black Sea incidents put NATO on alert
NATO allies will hold an emergency meeting to discuss incidents involving vessels in the Black Sea.
TodayPress TV reports, citing an interview with Romanian President Nicușor Dan published by Politico, that the meeting will address the situation in the region.
“NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has expressed the alliance’s solidarity, and a meeting of the North Atlantic Council will be held. The entire situation concerning the Black Sea will be discussed at that meeting,” Dan said on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels.
It should be recalled that Radu Miruță, Romania’s acting defence minister, previously proposed to his Bulgarian counterpart the establishment of a unified military command for NATO’s coastal states in the Black Sea region.
According to Miruță, Romania is ready to lead the command and to host it on its Black Sea coast, on Romanian territory, starting in 2028.
