US and Europe report Iran to the UN

The US, the UK, France and Germany have submitted a draft resolution on Iran’s nuclear program to the UN Security Council.

TodayPress TV reports, citing the Associated Press, that if adopted, the document could pave the way for an official determination that Iran has violated its nuclear obligations.

The draft resolution is expected to be subsequently discussed by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). However, the document has not yet been formally submitted, and negotiations on its text are still underway.

The document calls on Iran to comply with its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Tehran is required to provide information on all nuclear materials and activities and allow IAEA inspectors to verify that these activities are not being used for military purposes.

The draft recommends that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi send documents related to the matter to the agency’s member states, the UN Security Council and the General Assembly.

According to diplomats, the final text of the resolution may still be changed, and proposals from other countries will also be taken into account
