Azerbaijan to chair the CIS

“Dear colleagues, I would like to express my gratitude for supporting the decision on Azerbaijan’s co-chairmanship of the CIS in 2027. We view this as a sign of the high level of trust placed in our country and are ready to actively participate in carrying out our shared tasks.”

TodayPress TV reports that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the statement during a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Turkmenbashi.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan was also ready to assume the CIS chairmanship in 2028 and host a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in the autumn of that year.
