Azerbaijan’s president congratulates his German counterpart
President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
TodayPress TV reports that the letter reads:
“Dear Mr. President,
On the occasion of your country’s national holiday, German Unity Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you and the entire German people on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan.
As Germany’s most important and reliable partner in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to the comprehensive development of bilateral interstate relations and cooperation. During my visit to Germany in July this year, the signing of the “Joint Declaration on a Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany” laid the foundation for a qualitatively new stage in our interstate relations — a strategic partnership.
Our active political dialogue contributes to cooperation between our countries in the economic and trade, energy, transport, connectivity, investment, humanitarian and other fields. It also plays an important role in developing interaction across the Eurasian continent and fostering effective cooperation in the energy sector.
I believe that we will continue to make joint efforts to further strengthen friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Germany and deepen our cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union, in line with the interests of our peoples.
On this festive occasion, I wish you good health, happiness and success in your responsible duties, and lasting peace and prosperity to the friendly German people.”
