Foreign nationals detained for attempting to cross Azerbaijan’s border illegally

Foreign nationals attempting to illegally cross the state border have been detained.

According to information provided to TodayPress TV by the Press Centre of the State Border Service, operational and military measures were carried out in the areas of responsibility of the Border Troops’ Zagatala and Shamkir border detachments.

As a result, one Palestinian national was detained while attempting to cross the state border from Georgia into Azerbaijan in the area of responsibility of the Zagatala border detachment.

In the area of responsibility of the Shamkir border detachment, three citizens of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and two citizens of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria were detained while attempting to cross the state border from Azerbaijan into Georgia.

Operational and investigative measures are ongoing in connection with the incidents.
