There should be no enclaves or exclaves between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Pashinyan says
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has outlined the principles on which peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be established.
Pashinyan made the remarks during a livestream on social media, TodayPress TV reports.
According to him, under a peace agreement, Armenia’s territory should amount to 29,743 square kilometres.
“There should also be no enclaves or exclaves on either side of the border, and Armenia and Azerbaijan should exchange territories of comparable size,” he said.
Pashinyan noted that all roads and communication routes should be open, both within and beyond the framework of the TRIPP project.
“Armenia and Azerbaijan should make no claims against each other and should leave each other alone on all issues. There should be no claims based on the logic of Karabakh, Girdman, Shirvan, Nakhchivan or Western Azerbaijan,” he said.
According to the Armenian prime minister, following his recent contacts with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Turkmenistan, he has come to believe that it is possible to establish peace between the two countries on precisely these terms.
