President speaks about Armenia’s occupation policy
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has spoken about Armenia’s occupation policy during his address at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
TodayPress TV reports that the head of state said:
“For 30 years, approximately 20 per cent of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognised territory was occupied by Armenia. Armenia committed military aggression against Azerbaijan by expelling one million Azerbaijanis from their ancestral historical lands in both Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, as well as in what is now the territory of Armenia, carrying out ethnic cleansing.
“In 1993, the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions demanding the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied territories. However, these resolutions remained on paper for 30 years. The activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, established in 1992 to resolve the issue, were merely an imitation of meaningful action.”
